Day 350 - 14 June 2006 Festa do Santo António in Paúl the month of parties around Santo Antão is kickin off! apparently, every vila and city has a 3 day-3 week long party sometime during the months of May-July, and we’re in the thick of it now! I went up to Paúl to spend the few days of the Festa do Santo António with homies up there. it was a good time as we got to watch horse races, make ghetto sangria and kick it with Kayo’s crazy CVean friends, playin random word and story games that slightly resemble mad libs. our hostess had the mostest and the baracas again just popped up everywhere out of nowhere. and of course, there was lots of dancing. in fact that’s all there was at night. it got to be a bit of a bore and I wasn’t too into it. maybe I’ve become accustomed to just walkin around town and yappin it up with random folks instead of dancing the same 3 steps inside the clubs. oh word? WORD. all in all I had a good time when someone wasn’t annoyin the crap out of me. and of course those bolacha rocked all the way thru those 4 days…uugggghh…doce anyone? and another thing, I don’t know if it’s the season or if some higher force somewhere is pumpin pheromones into the air or water, but the cat calls and hissing is steadily increasing to kick off the summer. at first it used to be funny, not it’s like a meat market full snakes, or a bus full of Filipinos. I feel like my friends from back home are constantly tryin to get my attention. then I realize it’s just a group of 12-15 year olds giggling in the distance. at least now I can just laugh, wave and be on my merry way. <--- sao joao ja ben                sao joao in full effect ---> |
