Day 341 - 07 June 2006 São João já ben! SÃO JOÃO JÁ BEN! that’s right folks, the biggest party of the year is here! for the next 3 weeks (until the 25th), there will be (quase-) non-stop partying in the streets of Bufadour! (the party zone of Port’) of course, partying just means tons of passeia’n (walkin thru town) and lots of drinkin! my first experience of this was with my homie Elvis, that’s right, I kick it with the Rei de Rock! so we walk through town on the main street a few times, checkin out the newly constructed baracas, makeshift temporary shacks that can be as big as canopied bar/restaurants or just large closest-sized clothing stands. in the following weeks tons appear out of thin air on this street, creating a flea market sort of feel. on this first night, the Rei and I hit a few of these new establishments and down half bottles of wine one at a time. eventually more than a few go down and we have to call it quits for the wamble (walk-stumble) home. needless to say, good times were had. and believe me, it was JUST THE BEGINNING… <--- jr slump                santo antonio --->
