Day 171 - 21 December 2005 5 days of solitude 5 peaceful days of tranquillity...aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh...so what did I do? cook, eat, sleep, spend countless minutes on the WWW, and of course revolve my entire schedule around movie screenings in my living room. one day I even watched Star Wars episodes IV – VI. that’s right folks, all the way through. and then I saw Lord of the Rings on TV, so of course watched the following two the following two days. what a useless bum I am. I did venture out into the “wild outdoors” for a quick gift or two for the upcoming white elephant gift exchange we’re having with a few fellow volunteers who are coming up to visit for the holidays. the lojas were CRAAAAZZZYYYY! packed full of junk toys and crazy kids and frantic folks pickin out the best of the junk for their kids and friends. or maybe they were just chattin with other folks pretending to shop. I couldn’t really tell. and the xmas lights! IN-SANE. none of them just turn on. they either have mandatory seizure-inducing blinking patterns and/or have accompanying music blasting. oh what a headache! (but cool for you ravers...i mean, wha?) and get this, there’s this RIDICULOUS peacock set. what does a peacock have to do with xmas and xmas lights? beats me. but there it is. «pointing» maybe I’ll get that for the gift exchange! and so much of the junk was packaged with English labelling so obviously misprinted in China. (where all toys are made?) it was hilarious, especially when thinking about toys made in China labelled in English and sent to a Portuguese speakin country! add that one up! so needless to say, other than that laughfest, I was a complete tool and stayed in with my computer and a pack of my roomie’s DVD’s. hey, they don’t call it xmas break for nothin! <--- diplomas!                Christmas PCV style --->
