Day 135 - 15 November 2005 Usando o teclado first off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBBIEDEB! and next I wanna thank my buddy to the north for sharing with me a few computer class exercises he uses for his course. 3 words só em Português (not those 3)- Usando o Teclado. (using the keyboard) so this fully illustrated and well explained document shows how to use a keyboard the correct way (touch typing) and not the CVean hunt & peck way. so I had my students read it and try to do the following exercise for practice. it was a tough concept for my students, but they seemed to be willing to try and all of them finished the exercise. mais pratica! I kept sayin, tryin to explain that you can type faster if they practice this method. and this filled the entire lesson time! sweet! and then I had the students who did it yesterday explain it to the kids who showed up today after falta’n yesterday. after a good half hour of this, I started an intro to Word. I explained a little bit, but didn’t stick to my lesson plan religiously since the kids looked super bored. I should’ve explained more or demonstrated how to do part of the exercise I gave them beforehand. instead I had a bunch of confused students and had to help each pair individually.
