Day 103 - 14 October 2005 lazy week, crazy thursday what a lazy week. maybe it’s the heat, maybe it’s the lack of folks here, and maybe it’s the lack of stuff to do. anyhoo~ I helped a student learn how to rip a CD on Friday, and that was basically the extent of my “work.” I was definitely at work, doin the usual- responding to emails, playin solitaire and bein the subject of many stares by many of the youth who stopped by the center this week. guess I’ll start lesson planning next week. so Thursday was another crazy night on the town (yes only 3 days after the last). again, we hit up the usual places from across town back home to our home court advantage praça bar. again we got into conversations entirely in Kriolu with two guys. met this cool guy Calu and we talk about his family, our different places of work, Americans in our city. overall a good and well understood convo. I feel like I can really get into it with when I have home court advantage. it’s great! so the next day as I strollin to the youth center, this guy stops me and says the usual greetin “Tud dret?” and I have no idea who he is at first. so we talk for a sec, and then he’s like “Bon d´lembra-m?” (you don’t remember me do you?) and I say, wait did we just meet? and he says we just met last night at the praça. so instantly I feel like a jerk for not remembering and say, oh yeah! (I get an almost uncontrollable desire to slap my forehead.) so I say how’s it goin Calu, and make some excuse in really bad sober Kriolu about how he look different in the daytime. a dork I am as yoda would say. all in all, a lazy crazy week... <--- roomie’s bday                 pine forests--->
