Cape Verde
Day 88 - 29 September 2005
long day of safe free meals

you know what’s nice? meetings about our safety. free meals. days full of choppin it up with people whose main concern is our safety. galinha ma ananas (chicken & pineapples) sure don’t hurt neither. or breakfast katxupa. or búzio ma pão di sal (pan fried shellfish with salt bread)...word. bouty bout that isht. restaurants with ocean views. swappin experiences with volunteers from different countries. baskin in safety over a satisfying meal could never be better. i could go on and on and on and on...but i won’t cuz you won’t care, and i won’t notice...and with that...the weekend began. as it does every thursday night, and not just for me, or just for us "crazy" Americans, but for all the CVeans, all the students, all the adults...for everybody who lives in the western part of town, the "festa zona" as i like to call it. so of course to integrate and get out and just see folks and be seen (so as to help with the integration into my community), my roomie & i hop out for a walk and some refreshments. lots of folks out jus chillin or waltzin around in big flocks or small intimate groups. we see our friend "smiley" down at the first place we stop. he’s always in a good mood, and puts us in one too. then we pass this outdoor patio bumpin some phatty tunes and stop for a sec, realizing we can’t hear much, so we take off after a short while. from there we hit my roomie’s place- "my place" as he calls it (he even got me callin it "your place" when i mention it to him). and it was a leisurely stroll home. good times were had by all.
