Day 21 - 24 July 2005 Calheta & visitors today we went to visit a current volunteer in what was one of the hottest days so far. it was an interesting town after a spectacular hiace ride. up ‘n down montanhas & vales through greenin terraced hills of baby corn crop and through coconut groves and banana tree fields- soooo cool! I just wanted to get out and run around amongst the bananas and climb the coconut trees tongan style. one day I swear...unfortunately we were all so tired from the night before and after a short walk to the lava rock beach, all but one of us went to the volunteer’s house to chill. too durned hot to do anythin. on the way back saw a black sand beach- saweeT! such a great bumpy packed hiace ride- the best kind. now if my legs were just a bit shorter so I could fit in the seats better. the power of 3 came up to my fora hood today- my only visitors thus far (and prolly for the duration). the walk up was so heat producin that by the time we got here, we didn’t wanna do isht. we just chilled in the sala di visita and drank water, played blitz with my bro and chopped it up. for some reason we did hop over to the concrete soccer field next door and play my bro and his buddy some 2 on 3. bad idea! other than the fact that it just made us super calor and mojadu (wet with sweat), I played barefoot (since I was wearin xinelas) and have a blister on each foot. it’ll be fun walkin to school next week. it was good tho cuz I need to thicken my soles. maybe I should continue to walk/run around barefoot. I think I’ve figured it out: Kabuverdi = eat + eat more + eat more + sweat + sweat more + drink + drink more + sweat more. I think that sums it up so far. <--- S.D. firsts                teachin english & tummy ache ---> |
