Cape Verde
Day 16 - 19 July 2005
São Domingos - friends

it’s always interesting to see how people interact and who becomes friends with whom. back at home I seem to have a bunch of friends all over the country, makin it seem like no matter where I am I have a friend or two around. comin here is like goin to college orientation the very first day and not knowing ANYBODY. I feel like I’m goin thru orientation all over again, as I don’t know these 25 Americans or any of the 20 or so CVeans that I interact with on a daily basis. observing others and personally engaging with everybody is so different because it’s so new again. it’s great. there are obviously some folks that are easier to talk to than others and it always seems like everybody else is so engaged with each other. of course that could be cuz I’m not interacting when I’m observing. (duh steve) there are a bunch of cool folks here, both newbies and oldies, estagiarius (trainees) and staff...the past couple days I’ve gotten a li’l closer to a couple of folks who I’m sure will become my inner circle or 3 stooges as I like to think of us. I also hung out with a few girls who seem to already be a pretty tight 3 amigos. everybody is so open and chill- as expected. wonder when the drama will set in (if any)? I guess it’s still too early to really know who will become my closest friends. and of course that could change since we’re only all together for 2 months, then we could all be in different places, especially if I’m sent off to the fora by myself. «fingers crossed» I wonder how relationships will continue from our individual sites. I’m sure I’ll miss bein together with urbody, but who knows what drama will be relieved when we finally all split, assuming there will be any. (there’s gotta be with 25 of us seein each other ALL THE TIME.) friends are neat, friends are fun, friends are great when you need someone. so exciting to be able to make some new friends, both American and CVean.
